Private sector exports up 58%

Doha: The total value of private sector exports (according to the certificate of origin issued by the Qatar Chamber) during the third quarter (Q3) of 2022 amounted to QR3.38bn, showing an increase of 58 percent on an annualised basis compared to the same period of the previous year which amounted to QR5.96bn, the Private Sector Exports Quarterly report of the Qatar Chamber noted.

On a quarterly basis, private sector exports has surged five percent compared to QR8.92bn in Q2 of the same year. Private sector exports had continued to grow from Q3 of 2021 till Q3 this year which confirms the ongoing improvement of the private sector’s performance and its ability to return to its pre-pandemic levels, the report stated.

Exports of the private sector during Q3/2022 according to the type of certificates of origin issued by the Chamber through The General model amounted to QR5.71 bn, an increase of 61 percent y-on-y during Q3 of 2021 which amounted to QR3.54bn, and by 10.1 percent on a quarterly basis in Q2/2022 which amounted to QR5.190bn. They are followed by exports through the Unified GCC model which are estimated at QR 2.31 bn, recording an increase of 43.1 percent compared to QR1.6bn on an annual basis, while it decreased by 6.4 percent on a quarterly basis compared to QR2.478bn in Q2/2022.

In Q3/2022, the value of exports through the GSP model amounted to QR877m, an increase of 111 percent on a yearly basis compared to QR414mn in Q3/2021, and by 23 percent on a quarterly basis compared to QR 710m in Q2/2022.

Exports through the Unified Arab model amounted to QR239m, showing a decrease by 1.2 percent on a y-on-y basis in Q3/2021 which amounted to QR242m and by 31.1 percent on a quarterly basis which amounted to QR347m in Q2/2022.

Exports through the Singapore model (QR227m) grew by 69.5 percent on a y-on-y basis compared to QR133m in Q3/2021 and by 17.4 percent on a quarterly basis compared to QR 193m in Q2/2022.

The report notes that that exports of six commodities increased, while four commodities decreased. The value of exports of fuel in Q3-2022 amounted to QR2.83bn, showing a significant increase of 241.4 percent on a yearly basis compared to its value during the same period of the previous year, which amounted to QR829m. On a quarterly basis, it increased by 12.3 percent compared to QR 2.52bn in Q2-2022.

In Q3-2022, essential and industrial Oils exports amounted to QR 2.49bn with a y-on-y 76.2 increase, compared to the same period of the previous year which amounted to QR 1.41bn. Quarterly, it also increased by 62 percent, compared to its value in Q2-2021, which amounted to QR 1.53bn.

The value of exports of aluminum in Q3-2022 decreased by 6.9 percent on a y-on-y basis, reaching QR1.529bn, compared to QR1.642bn in Q3-2021. On a quarterly basis, they also decreased by 37.3 percent compared to its value in Q2-2021, which amounted to QR2.44bn.

Exports of the chemical fertilizers increased on a yearly basis sharply 530 percent, reaching a value of QR673.67m, compared to the same period last year which amounted to QR106.8m.

On a quarterly basis, they also increased by 89.5 percent, which amounted QR355.5m.

The value of exports of steel amounted to QR346m, showing a y-on-y sharp increase of 2232 percent compared to QR14m in Q3-2021. It also increased quarterly by 99.8 percent compared to QR 173.29m in Q2-2022.

The value of exports of Lotrene in Q3-2022 amounted to QR341.26m, a decrease of 6.1 percent y-o-y compared to its value during the same period of the previous year, which amounted to QR363.62m. On a quarterly basis, it also decreased by 12.2 percent compared to its value in Q2-2022, which amounted to QR 388.5m.

In Q3-2022, chemical substances exports amounted to QR339.21m, an increase of 10.8 percent compared to its value in the same period of the previous year, which amounted to QR306.25m. On a quarterly basis, they grew by 31.7% compared to its value in Q2- 2022, which amounted to QR 257.51m.

The value of exports of Paraffin in Q3-2022 amounted to QR334.84m, an increase of 50 percent on a yearly basis, compared to its value during the same period of the previous year, which amounted to about QR223.25m. Quarterly, It also surged by 54 percent compared to the value of exports from it during Q3/2022, which amounted to QR 217.47m.

The value of exports of Industrial Gases in Q3-2022 amounted to QR168.55m, a decrease of 70 percent on a yearly basis, compared to its value during the same period of the previous year, which amounted to about QR561.60m. On a quarterly basis, exports of industrial gases increased by 13.7 percent compared to QR 195.37m in Q2/2022.

The value of petrochemicals exports amounted to QR 5.10m, recording a 98.5 y-on-y decrease compared to QR345.40m in the same period of the previous year. It also decreased on a q-on-q basis by 31.6 percent compared to QR 7.46m in Q2/2022.
