DOHA: Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and the French National Olympic and Sport Committee (FNOSC) signed a co-operation agreement in the domain of sport at the Aspire4Sport Congress in Doha, yesterday.
The agreement was signed f by Secretary General, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and for the French National Olympic and Sport Committee by Jean Pierre Mougin, General Sectary.
The agreement includes a number of articles relating to exchanging technical and administrative expertise between institutions, sport federations and Olympic Committees in both countries.
The deal will also see the organisiation of various sports programmes and training camps for sport teams in the two countries.
It will also deal with exchanging visits and co-ordinating the two countries stands in the continental and international events in the field of sport.
Sheikh Saoud said in a press conference: “French sport is well developed in many fields and the State of Qatar could benefit from the high level of French sport.” Sheikh Saoud underlined that France was also keen to benefit from the potential of Qatar in the sport sector, which means that this agreement will be beneficial for both parties.
Mougin expressed his pleasure for signing this agreement which will contribute to strengthening the bilateral cooperation, affirming that both parties will reap great benefits from this cooperation.
Sheikh Saoud had invited Mougin for a meeting in his office at the Olympic Headquarters.
The discussions during the encounter dealt with bilateral relations between Qatar and France and the means to boost cooperation in the sport domain.
Both underlined the excellent level of cooperation between the two countries and praised the progress achieved by the State of Qatar in all fields, and in particular in the sport sector where Doha has become a unique successful hub.
The four-day Aspire4Sport sports Congress takes place today and tomorrow at Aspire Dome. Entry is free for the public.
