Education Ministry launches Summer Centres for 2024

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth,has  announced the launch of summer centres for this year, starting from July 1 to August 8 in 30 summer centres and youth bodies across the country, where the centres will continue for five weeks.

Summer centres are not just places for fun and games but platforms for personal growth and development. MoEHE aims to discover and refine talents, strengthen experiences, and develop various skills.

These centres target Qatari and expatriate students of public schools (boys and girls) and Qatari students in private schools at all academic levels for the age groups (6-18 years). Each centre welcomes 300 students for 11 hours daily between 9am and 8pm. At the summer centres, we value diversity and inclusivity.

Director of the Schools and Student Affairs Department Maryam Al Buainain said that registration in this summer centre is open to all students of both sexes and students with disabilities throughout the morning and evening periods.

“We want all participants to benefit from and enjoy the various activities the Ministry offers in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and coordinate with the concerned authorities in such summer activities and programmes.”

Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Fawaz Al Mesaifri stressed that more than 450 events have been registered in all youth institutions in various fields. These events combine training and awareness workshops, capacity building and skills development, and competitions and sports activities that meet all the needs and aspirations of the target groups.

The Ministry has allocated 24 centres for boys, namely: Simaisma and Al Daayen Youth Centre, Al Kaaban Youth Centre, Al Thakhira Youth Centre, Doha Youth Centre, Jumailiya Youth Centre, Barzan Youth Centre, Qatar Scientific Club, Friends of the Environment Centre, Young Entrepreneurs Club, Qatar Youth Hostels, Qatar Radio Sports Centre, Qatar Cycling Centre, Al Sadd Sports Club, Al Rayyan Sports Club, Muaither Sports Club, Al Sailiya Sports Club, Al Wakra Sports Club, Al Khor Sports Club, Qatar Sports Club, Al Shamal Sports Club, Al Gharafa Sports Club, Al Arabi Club, Al Ahli Sports Club, Al Kharaitiyat Sports Club. The summer centres for girls included 6 centres: Al Wakra Girls Centre, Al Khor Girls Centre, Al Dana Centre for Girls, Al Majd Centre for Girls, Doha Girls Centre, and Al Reyada Centre for Girls.

Registration for this year’s summer centres will be online on the “Maaref” portal for public services, which will be available after the Eid Al Adha holiday, where those wishing to register are required to attach the ID card in addition to securing the necessary undertakings signed by the guardian (pledge to preserve the property of the school environment, the guardian’s commitment to follow up the entry and exit of the student, pledge of the student’s health condition).
