Doha: An impressive “Costa Rica, Soccer Culture” show was recently held at Katara Drama Theatre showcasing Arabic and oriental music, and sports entertainment through a series of performances.

Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, in cooperation with the Costa Rica Embassy in Qatar organised the said show wherein it was attended by Ambassador of Costa Rica to the State of Qatar, H E Mariano Segura, along with a number of ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries accredited to the State, and a large audience of those interested in culture and sports enthusiasts.

The cultural show included the playing of Arabic pieces and oriental music, and an artistic troupe presented a folkloric football show from Costa Rica.

Katara has hosted various events that define the history and art of Costa Rica and Latin American countries through forms of modern artistic and folk expressions, such as the Latin American Culture Festival that was held in October 2011 and presented performances of the best types of Latin music, dance and films in which over 230 artists and representatives from Costa Rica and eight different countries of Latin America participated. In March 2016, it hosted the Exhibition of Symbols of Latin America and the Caribbean, which was organised in cooperation with the embassies of eight Latin American countries.

It is worth noting that the Folklore Troupe, which performed at the Katara Drama Theatre, was established in 2009 with the aim of encouraging the dissemination of Latin American culture. The Kika Ball Okacha Troupe is the first of its kind to present football performances in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
