Things to do this weekend in Qatar (December 13-15, 2018)

The weekend is here and the weather is perfect for catching up on some outdoor fun with friends and families. We have listed a few interesting things you can check out. We have also made a separate Qatar National Day events listing, the link for that is given at the end. With so much happening around Qatar, it is going to be tough to choose from. So wish you all happy and busy weekend!

Entertainment World Village

You will be able to experience the latest international thrill rides brought from Europe to entertain both kids and adults, including Drop Tower, Roller Coaster, G-Force and a Giant Ferris Wheel to name a few, in addition to various activities areas and zones such as Paintball arena, Dinosaur Park and Circus tent with acts and performances performed by world’s most famous artists.

Additionally, the Entertainment World Village will host the largest shopping exhibition in Qatar, with variety of retail shops from 25 different countries showcased in 11 themed pavilions, offering a wide array of choices of fashion, beauty, jewellery, souvenirs, perfumes, carpets, home accessories, consumables and many more.

Entertainment World Village will have many stage shows  in addition to the roaming acts, skill games and other recreational activities such as doughnut boats where food is served in the sea. Visitors can also enjoy various culinary offerings from food and beverages booths ranging from cafes, fast food eateries and casual dining outlets.

The Entertainment World Village is located at Al Qutaifiya beach, between the Diplomatic Club and The Pearl-Qatar.

Flower festival at Souq Waqif

The first flower festival organized by Souq Waqif in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment is attracting a lot of interest as they also have a wide variety of seedlings and other accessories related to flowers and ornamental plants.

Flowers and plants displayed at the festival include, arumtimum, cactus, bougainvillea, clitoria, Cycas, Orange, Lemon, Ficus, Syngonyium, Carissa, Darcina, Schafflera, Leucophyllum, Euphorbia, Erithia, Carissa and many more.

Different farms and flower marketing companies have exhibited their products in the shops set-up at the West Square of Souq Waqif.

Qatar History Expo

A collection of historical photos, artefacts and documents from the private collections of several Qatari families will be showcased at a Qatar National Library exhibition from December 16 to January 31, 2019.

Entitled ‘Qatar Through Private Collections,’ the exhibition represents a collective memory of the nation’s past, and celebrates its traditional way of life.

The previously unseen private collections bring to life the contributions that local people have made in preserving Qatar’s identity, history and heritage.

The exhibition is a part of the Library’s month-long celebration of Qatar National Day.

QatART Maker’s Market

QatART is a community of crafters, who make handmade art and craft gastronomic delights.

The market will include all kinds of unique handmade art and craft on sale, and a skills workshop.
