To enhance the capacity of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) in the country on usage of information technology, the Ministry of Transport and Communications  (MoTC) is set to organise six sessions in the coming days under its Digital Transformation of SMEs (DTSME) programme.

“Digital Transformation is now a must for any business to remain competitive. Join the coming Digital Transformation sessions for SMEs and meet with the right service providers to empower and enhance your business model,” the Ministry said in a tweet yesterday.

The Digital Transformation of SMEs programme (DTSME) is designed to encourage the usage of information technology in SMEs, and enhance awareness of the benefits of using modern technology in the business sector.

With a focus on web presence, e-commerce and cloud services, the DTSME programme aims to connect enterprises to the right service providers to begin their digital transformation journey.

Delivery of the programme is done through training and awareness sessions delivered by service providers based in Qatar and active in the respective focus areas, with overall facilitation through the DTSME programme and their corporate partners, said the Ministry.

On October 15, a session will be held on “Dynamics 365 Business Central on Microsoft Azure”. The session aims to enable SMEs' digital transformation by adopting a modern and cost-effective ERP platform. Dynamics 365 Business Central is powered by Microsoft Azure which ensures users will get the best performance out of their system with the highest level of security. The finance and supply chain modules will enable companies to shift away from paper based processes to digital and modern workflows, the ministry said in a post on its website.  The registration for this and all sessions is open on the MoTC website.

“How to Take Your Online Business to the Next Level Using SAAS” is the theme of another session to be organised on October 18. It will be a focused discussion on the use of ‘Software as a Service’ for online businesses and the benefits it gives them when implemented correctly.

On October 19, “Enhanced Fraud Detection with Data Analytics” session will be held. The objective of the session is to raise awareness of the impact of occupational fraud and strategies for addressing the issue with data analytics. SMEs will be presented with various ways in which frauds may occur and how data can be analysed to identify instances of possible fraud. Auditors and fraud investigators in SMEs will be able to develop or enhance a fraud detection programme based on the learnings from this session, the MoTC said.

On October 20, “Test Your Cyber Resilience Against Next Generation Threats” session will be organised, during which the participants will get a level of understanding about terminology of cyber security testing technologies.

Another session themed “ERP For Small and Mid-Size Companies” will be held on October 27. Integrating an ERP has become a must for every business today, no matter if it is a manufacturing business, a textile industry, a trading business, a construction business, a healthcare centre, an educational institute, or an e-commerce business.

On October 29, “Automated Chatbots for Customer Service” session will be held. DTEMS will help participants increase their customer satisfaction and lead generation by providing a 24/7 always-available customer service chatbot that enables SMEs to create their own chatbot based on their business’s specific needs.
