Doha: Stocks in the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) have continued to gain in the second week of September 2022 as QSE general index began trading in green zone in beginning of this month. The index jumped 91.36 points or 0.70 percent, yesterday to close at 13,194.9 points helped by strong buying interest from investors.
During yesterday’s session the volume of shares traded rose to 139.71 million from 96.27 million on Sunday and the value of shares increased to QR536.1m from QR298.2m on September 11, as a result of implementing 19,179 deals in all sectors. In the session, the shares of 19 companies rose, while the prices of 24 companies decreased, and four companies maintained their previous closing price.
At the end of the trading session, the market capitalization reached QR733.26bn, compared to the last trading session, which amounted to QR727.43bn. The indices of five sectors ended in green zone yesterday.
QSE Total Return Index gained 0.70 percent to 27,027.43, QSE Al Rayan Islamic index added 0.45 percent to 5,551.43 points and QSE All Share Index rose 0.81 percent to 4,181.65 points. The indices of banks and financial services, transportation, telecoms, and consumer goods & services gained, 1.51 percent, 0.95 percent, 0.83 percent, and 0.27 percent respectively. While the indices of industrials, real estate and insurance decreased 0.17 percent, 0.31, and 1.64 respectively.
Top gainers in yesterday’s trade were Qatar German for Medical Devices, QNB, Qatar Navigation, Dlala Brokerage and Investment Holding, and Qatar International Bank rising 5.8 percent, 3.04 percent, 2.3 percent, 2.04 percent, and 1.6 percent, respectively. While Mannai Corporation, Qatar Cinema and Film Distributing, Qatar Insurance, Estithmar Holding, and Alkhaleej Takaful Insurance lost 6.4 percent, 5.6 percent, 2.5 percent, 1.5 percent, and 1.3 percent respectively.
On Sunday, the QSE Index rose 0.04 percent to close at 13,103.54 points. The gains were led by indices of banks and financial services, industrials, insurance, real estate, telecoms, and transportation gaining 1.3 percent and 1.05 percent, 0.87 percent, 2.41 percent, 0.95 percent, and 0.6 percent respectively, whereas consumer goods and services index decreased 0.35 percent.
Top gainers were QLM Life & Medical Insurance, United Development, Medicare Group, Barwa Real Estate, Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding Company rising 3.5 percent and 2.7 percent, 2.7 percent, 2.4 percent, and 2.3 percent respectively. Among the top losers were Mannai Corporation, Widam Food Company, Qatar German for Medical Devices, Qatar Fuel, and Dlala Brokerage and Investment Holding which fell 10 percent, 1.9 percent, 0.8 percent, 0.6 percent, 0.3 percent respectively.
The indices of six sectors ended in green zone and one sector ended in red zone today. QSE Total Return Index gained 1.19 percent to 26,840.29, QSE Al Rayan Islamic index gained 1.2 percent to 5,526.67 points and QSE All Share Index gained 1.1 percent to 4,148.14 points.
