Qatar, EU hold 4th human rights dialogue meeting

Brussels: Fourth human rights dialogue meeting between the State of Qatar and the European Union’s European External Action Service (EEAS) was held in Brussels yesterday.

The delegation of Qatar to the meeting was headed by Ambassador of Qatar to the European Union and NATO, H E Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki; and Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Dr. Turki bin Abdulla Al Mahmoud. On the other hand, the European Union’s delegation was headed by Head of the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq Division in the EEAS H E Anna-Maria Panagiotakopoulou.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the latest updates in the human rights situation in Qatar, especially issues related to women and migrant workers, and Qatar’s commitment to the rights of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 projects’ workers, in addition to a number of issues of mutual concern, particularly refugee issues in Europe and the fight against hate speech and Islamophobia.

The meeting was attended by representatives of a number of Qatari government agencies and Qatar’s mission to the European Union in Brussels.
