Doha: Ministry of Public Health today recorded 418 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 884 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 100627. The Ministry also announced 2 death due to Covid-19.
The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 104016 and there are 3240 active cases under treatment. So far, 149 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar. Ministry conducted 3645 tests in last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 416327 tests. There are 30 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours.
4 patients were admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 139.
Qatar has one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates in the world. This is a result of:
1. Qatar’s young population
2. Proactive testing to identify cases early
3. Expanding hospital capacity, especially intensive care, to ensure all patients receive the medical care they need
4. Protecting the elderly and those with chronic diseases.
“Even though restrictions are being lifted, and numbers are declining, this does not mean that the COVID-19 pandemic is finished in Qatar – every day between 50 and 100 people are admitted to hospital with moderate to severe COVID-19 symptoms.” Ministry warned.
While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:
o Adherence to physical distancing
o Wearing a face mask
o Washing hands regularly.
The Ministry of Public Health urged anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to contact the unified helpline (16000), or to go to one of the virus testing centers, since the earlier detection of the disease results in a better chance of recovery.
The main screening centers include Muaither Health Center, Rawdat Al Khail Health Center, Umm Slal Health Center, and Al Gharafa Health Center
