Doha: Doha Environmental Actions Project (DEAP) Qatar along with the Torba Farmers Market is conducting a mangrove and beach cleanup on Friday, November 15.

DEAP is a volunteering organisation leading the beach cleanup movement and fights against plastic pollution in Qatar.

The team is now planning to clean up the mangroves in Al Khor and has invited volunteers for the same.

Apart from Torba Market, Project Rescue Ocean is also joining hands for this one day project. Though a kid and family-friendly event, the organisers warn that there are no washroom facilities at the cleanup location.

For those volunteers who are interested in carpooling to the venue, meet up is at Dairy Queen by the Radisson Blue Hotel on Salwa Road. Meeting time is 12:30 pm after which the group will depart at 1 pm and then regroup at the mangrove cleaning area at 2 pm. After a light snack and social interaction, the team would return by 4:30 pm.

The organisers say that volunteers should carry lots of water as it gets very hot near the beach, food to share with reusable cutlery, hats, towels, change of clothes, sunscreen, work or garden gloves, and their respective Qatar IDs.
