Doha: Mandarin Oriental, Doha has announced to keep its commitment in the field of environmental responsibility by conducting its first Natural Landscapes Conservation initiative in partnership with Doha Environmental Actions Project (DEAP), a leader in Qatar for raising environmental awareness in the fight against plastic pollution.

On October 10  during Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW) 2022, 25 colleagues of Mandarin Oriental, Doha conducted a conservation activity at the North-West beach in Al Zubarah Archaeological Site, a Unesco World Heritage site, collecting 250kg’s of waste washed off ashore.

The seventh edition of Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW) 2022 launched on October 8 by Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future (Earthna), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF).

During the initiative, colleagues collected over 25 bags of waste washed off through ocean currents and experienced first-hand the effects of plastic pollution on our planet. The goal of this activity was to encourage and inspire colleagues to direct their efforts towards the wellbeing of the planet, of communities and of individuals and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

The hotel seeks to contribute to the communities in which it operates and responsibly managing its environmental impact and social commitment.

“We are delighted to have contributed towards supporting the environmental movement in Qatar and raising awareness on the effects of plastic pollution to do more for a sustainable future,” said Thomas Kinsperger, Hotel Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Doha.

“We seek to deliver our mission in a manner that is viable, equitable and in harmony with our natural systems believing that our continued success can only be achieved if we take care of our people and planet,” he added.
