29 returning travellers tested positive as 206 Covid-19 cases reported in Qatar on Oct 12

Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today recorded 206 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 198 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 125,176. 

Out of the 206 new cases, 177 are community cases and 29 from travelers returning from abroad.

All new cases have been placed in isolation and are receiving necessary health care according to their health status.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 128,191 and there are 2,795 active cases under treatment. So far, 220 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar.

Ministry conducted 5,545 tests in the last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 837,486 tests. There 40 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total patients in the hospital to 371.

Three patients was admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 55.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:

- Adherence to physical distancing.

- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate.

- Wearing a face mask.

- Washing hands regularly
