The Great Hispanic Fair organised by the Spanish Speaking Ladies Group will take place on October 12, Friday, from 1pm to 7pm at the American School of Doha.
From September 15 to October 15, they are celebrating the Hispanic Heritage Month. The main event of the month is the Great Hispanic Fair, a family oriented occasion, with a full program of folk music and dance, typical food and traditional crafts from the different Hispanic groups in Qatar.
The event will include live music and dance on stage, with the performance of Gaiteros de Qatar, a non-profit cultural musical organisation of Venezuelans residing in Doha that promotes the ‘gaita’, Spanish word for bagpipe, one of the main musical expressions of Venezuelan culture.
There will also be a performance by the Ballet Folklorico Latinoamericano in Qatar, a non-profit folk dance organisation integrated by a group of Hispanic ladies residing in Doha. Also the Flamenco, a genre of music and dance from Spain, is going to be present during the event. The fair will have music groups from the most prestigious Hotels with Latin restaurants in the city as well.
In the Traditional Food Corner, Hispanic catering services and members from the group will prepare dishes from their countries, offering guests their authentic and typical food. Also, members of the Spanish Speaking Ladies group will bring traditional handmade craft from their countries and there will be an International corner with vendors of different countries and cultures. For kids there will be jumping castles, a dress up station, photo booths, piñata time, tennis demonstration and gym classes.
The Spanish Embassy will contribute shirts of the Spanish football team that won the World Cup. These will be part of raffle for charitable purposes.
The event is open to all and tickets are priced at QR20 and children under 12 are free.
