Doha: Qatar is continuing to provide treatment for patients hailing from the blockading countries and has treated a total of 232,576 medical cases across Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) in the last 14 months.
Among them 6,136 are from Bahrain, 203,705 from Egypt, 2,945 from the UAE, and 19,790 from Saudi Arabia. They have made 1.08 million visits to different facilities across HMC and PHCC from June 5, 2017 to August 4, 2018, according to data released yesterday.
“Humanity supersede anything. We will treat all patients, because they are humans and Qatar is a humane country. We will treat all patients despite their nationality, either form blockading or non blockading country. Politics will never interfere into medical treatment,” Dr Yousef Al Maslamani, Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital (HGH) told The Peninsula.
“We have continued to treat patients from the blockading countries and we will continue treating them,” he added.
As many as 138,414 have availed the services provided at HMC hospital network and they have made 451,183 visits to different facilities.
The Pediatric Emergency Centres of HMC have treated 30,640 cases during the said period. A total of 3, 757 patients from Bahrain, 121,127 from Egypt, 1,883 from the UAE, and 11,643 from Saudi Arabia were treated at HMC hospitals.
The PHCC’s health centres have treated 101,802 patients from the blockading countries and they have made 503,885 visits in the last 14 months.
“All these are people residing in Qatar,” said Dr Al Maslamani.
A total of 22,793 in-patients from the blockading countries were treated at HMC hospitals.
About 130 patients with kidney failure have sought services at HMC’s dialysis units at different hospitals.
The HGH and National Centre for Cancer Care and Research has provided chemotherapy treatment for 184 patients from the blockading countries and 169 have undergone surgeries as part of cancer care at the HMC.
More than 2,000 women have undergone normal deliveries or caesarian section at HMC hospitals. Among them 58 are Bahraini, 1,727 are Egyptians, 36 are Emirati and 355 are from Saudi Arabia.
Approximately 960 patients from the four blockading countries have availed services for trauma. Around 300 adult patients and 28 children under the age of 14 years, from the blockading countries have undergone surgeries for cardiac problems. A total of 8,275 patients have undergone surgeries for different types of illnesses. Among them the highest number of 2,482 surgeries were performed at the HGH.
