Team Qatar golfers pose with their trophies.
Doha: Talented Qatari golfer Saleh Ali Al Kaabi is targeting more titles after he claimed two gold medals at the recently-concluded GCC Golf Championship in Bahrain.
Team Qatar and Al Kaabi retained their GCC Golf Championship titles after an impressive performance at the Royal Golf Club last weekend.
Al Kaabi won the individual championship, for the second successive year, at the end of the four-day championship.
In the team championship, Qatar team consisting of Al Kaabi, Ali Al Shahrani, Jaham Jassim Al Kuwari and Abdulrahman Al Shahrani finished first followed by Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait.
“I am very proud and happy to win the GCC Championship titles for teams and individual for the second year in a row,” said Al Kaabi.
“I made a great effort this season and the Qatar Golf Association gave me the opportunity to participate in major Golf tournaments whether inside or outside Qatar such as Qatar Masters, Qatar Open and international Golf Series, which was an excellent preparation for the GCC Golf Championship. I still have many tournaments to represent Qatar, and I hope to make more achievements,” he added.
Qatar team was coached by Hassan Benrokiya, while Salman Al Khanji was the head of the delegation.
