Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has signed a contract with Continental Trading Company to build a city of containers for self-storage in Bujod area on Al Majd Road opposite Berkat Al Awamer.

Minister of Municipality and Environment H E Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie witnessed the contract signing ceremony held today at the headquarters of MME at Corniche.

The purpose of the project is to utilize government land to provide areas for storing camping equipment, buggies, furnitures, household items and any other such items in containers.

People will be able to rent the containers in full or half (20-foot or 40-foot) and store whatever they need to store for short or long-term paying a meagre rent.

The project in an area of 310,884 square metres will offer logistic facilities enabling people and companies store their goods in containers provided by the company.

The project is expected to come in operation by second quarter of 2021. The prices of storing will be competitive, a company official said.

The project will help people to avoid violating hygiene law by pilling up camping gears in residential areas.
