Doha: ACCIONA has taken a step forward in its commitment to innovation and sustainability by implementing a complete digitalization strategy in its operating plants in Qatar, eliminating the use of paper and centralizing all information in accessible and structured databases.
This development, part of its “paperless” strategy, represents an essential milestone to improve efficiency, traceability and reporting capabilities throughout its operations.
The project, which has already been implemented at the Ras Abu Fontas 3 plant (RAF A3) and will soon be extended to the Umm Al Houl plant (UHP), both in Qatar, affects all employees at these locations: 70 workers at RAF A3 and around 110 at UHP.
In line with the “paperless” objective, all plant processes and records have been digitized, eliminating the use of paper and enabling more efficient management of daily operations.
To achieve this transformation, ACCIONA has worked on the co-creation of innovative software, specifically designed to manage the operation and maintenance of its plants digitally.
Instead of relying on multiple independent Excel files, all the information is consolidated in a single database, with criteria for accessibility, verification, and measurement of data quality, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the information.
In addition, the project includes the complete digitalisation of maintenance management through a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), which integrates the full mobility function for plant personnel, eliminating the need to keep paper records through the use of tablets and smartphones.
In the area of safety and health (Safety), the system digitizes the management of work permits, access to the integrated management system, incident management and other critical processes, improving efficiency and safety in the workplace.
Finally, all employee education and training are carried out with an online tool developed directly by ACCIONA that facilitates a specific training path for each person based on their role and substantially improves the quality of training by incorporating AI (Large Language Models) tools.
The elimination of paper not only represents an advance in sustainability, but also has a positive impact on the optimization of resources.
At RAF A3 and UHP, the paperless strategy saves around 2.5 packs of A4 paper per day.
However, the real value of this initiative lies in the creation of structured digital data, which will strengthen analytical tools and enable more informed and efficient decision making, facilitating the use of AI and advanced technologies in the future.
