Doha: To celebrate the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar festivities with a touch of art, Msheireb Downtown Doha has joined hands with King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) to host a unique showcase of non-fungible token (NFT) paintings at the ‘From Strike to Stroke’ exhibition being held from December 7 to 20 at Msheireb Galleria.
The exhibition narrates the story of FIFA World Cup matches through 64 unique NFTs paintings created by 32 artists from 32 countries to highlight the spirit of cultural coexistence. The illustrations translate the emotions and dynamic movements of players from the matches using artificial intelligence. Visitors can learn more about the matches through statistics such as the number of goals by the winning team, the number of shots by the losing team, and missed penalties of the match.
A special painting will celebrate the historic victory of Saudi Arabia over Argentina created by Saudi artist Amr Boughari. A panel discussion will also be held and will be attended by Yasser Al Mishal, President of the Saudi Football Association, former Spanish star David Villa, former Saudi international player Sami Al Jaber, and Nazli Berberoglu, General Manager of the 2022 FIFA World Cup at Coca-Cola.
Ithra seeks to support the Saudi economy and contributes to the development of all cultural knowledge. It covers an area of 80,000 acres and has a library, a huge modern and laboratory for ideas, cinema halls, an energy gallery, an art theater, as well as multiple museums and a children’s museum that promote openness to the learning of other cultures.
To celebrate the joyous moment of the year, Msheireb Downtown Doha initiated various cultural, art and entertainment events which captures the hearts of the local and international visitors, and gather the world in the downtown.
The exhibition is being held on the ground floor of Msheireb Galleria at Msheireb Downtown Doha. Entrance is free to all public.
