Team Qatar players and officials pose for a photograph after winning the third place in the West Asia Rugby 7s tournament held at Aspire Grounds. On Saturday, Qatar beat Lebanon 36-10 in the third place final after losing to Iran 22-24 in the semi-final.
On their way to the semis, Qatari men beat Palestine (58-0), Lebanon (22-5) and the UAE (25-5) before losing to Iran 12-19 in Round 5. On the other hand, Qatari women won the runner-up trophy after losing to UAE women 0-41 in the final. Al Annabi women beat Syria 20-17 in the semis. They beat Iraq (54-7), Syria (12-5) and Iran (12-5) and lost to UAE 7-27 in the first round.
The tournament was hosted by the Qatar Rugby, Hockey and Cricket Federation (QRHCF) and saw teams from five countries in action other than hosts Qatar.
