Doha: To ensure necessary hand hygiene in the ongoing fight against coronavirus in the country, Qatar in a short period of time has built sufficient capacity to produce hand sanitisers locally. The country is currently producing around one million litres of hand sanitisers per month.
“Domestic production has contributed to the supply of many local sterilisation and disinfectant products, and they are now available in commercial and consumer outlets. Qatar is currently producing over 992,000 litres hand sanitisers per month,” said the Government Communications Office (GCO) on its website’s ‘In Focus' page which now also shares all updates on coronavirus in the country.
The recently-added page on the GCO website gives authentic information on the status of COVID-19 in Qatar sharing updates on self-sufficiency, education, preventive measures and travel. The special page gives answers to most frequently asked questions revolving around COVID-19 restrictions also throwing light on re-opening phases.

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has signed 14 contracts to increase the stock of food and consumer commodities in Qatar. These contracts are a part of Qatar’s plan to secure the flow of high-quality imports to the local market in sufficient quantities and at reasonable prices in order to meet the needs of our citizens and residents, it added.
On initiatives taken by the State of Qatar to promote remote learning, the ‘In Focus’ page on coronavirus says that Qatar Media Corporation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, established two TV stations.
Called ‘Education 1’ and ‘Education 2’, the channels will support the efforts of the Ministry to complete the academic year for students and parents.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has also created a new educational channel on YouTube titled ‘Qatar’s Distance Learning‘ for students grades 1-12, to ready them, their parents and teachers for the remote-learning system, it added.
