Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) represented by the Public Hygiene Department (Beaches and Islands Section), cooperated with the Department of Environmental Protection, Natural Reserves and Wildlife, in removing abandoned fishnets at various beaches in the country.
On Twitter, the Ministry posted images of a pile of abandoned fishnets which were floating in Qatari waters.
The Ministry also encouraged citizens and residents to maintain public cleanliness and follow environmental rules to prevent damage to the country's marine environment. In a statement, the Ministry said: "We urge you to abide by environmental rules."
