Doha: In order to prevent cyberattacks and develop human cadre capable of dealing with emerging challenge, the Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) Cyber Security Center recently launched a number of training courses in the field of electronic crime prevention.
“The programmes target more than 52,000 trainees and aim to raise awareness of all state employees in the field of information technology and systems, and raise the efficiency of information systems and information security personnel in particular,” said First Lieutenant Mohamed Youssef Kavoud, supervisor of the courses offered by the Cyber Security Center at MoI.
On the most common method of hacking, he said that the most common method is ‘electronic phishing’ under which an email similar to his business entity or an international company is sent to a person under pretext of marketing or request of renewal of a person’s data and hence hacked information of the victim is used to harm him.
“We as a Center connect with all state agencies with a view to detect cyber breaches and we have evaluated the readiness of these agencies to address the threats. There exists weakness among some entities and accordingly we have put a number of technical training so that all the employees should have a great degree of readiness to protect these installations from any cyber attack,” he said while talking to a local channel.
“In the first phase of the programme, we focused on the government sector but it does not mean that the private sector is lesser important,” he said, adding that the courses are provided by experts from Cisco International Company. The courses are being organised in collaboration with Qatar Finance & Business Academy. First Lieutenant Kavoud said that these practical courses come within the framework of activating the practical side of the training program for the prevention of cyber attacks.
He said that the programmes prepared by the Cyber Security Center aim to prevent cyber attacks and seeks to implement one of the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, which is to develop a human cadre of highest efficiency.
