Ambassador of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Qatar, H E Tran Duc Hung
Doha: Diplomatic relations between Qatar and Vietnam have seen significant progress in various fields with exchange of high-level visits and signing of a number of agreements.
Vietnam is an ideal tourist destination for travellers from Doha, said Ambassador of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Qatar, H E Tran Duc Hung, while speaking at an event recently.
Responding to a query by The Peninsula regarding promotion of tourism cooperation between Qatar and Vietnam and what can Vietnam offer to Qatari citizens and residents as a tourist destination, the ambassador said, “Tourism is one of the very potential areas of cooperation between Qatar and Vietnam. Recently, Vietnam and Qatar signed a mutual visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders.
“Right after the pandemic, I led a delegation of Qatari tourism companies to attend a seminar on promoting India and Middle East markets in Vietnam in August 2022. We also lent support to Vietnamese enterprises to hold a number of seminars in Qatar to promote cooperation with their Qatar counterparts.”
The envoy added: “I would say that it is the policy of the government of Vietnam to create favourable conditions for international tourists.
"So, our embassy commits to facilitating Qataris and expats from Doha to visit Vietnam including visa procedure, updated information. I also further inform that we have a daily flight from Doha to two major cities, which have a number of charming tourism destinations."
I believe Vietnam is an ideal place for tourists from Doha, Hung said, addressing a press conference at the embassy, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Speaking about the contribution of Vietnamese community to the success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 , Hung said, “I highly appreciate the role of Qatar in hosting FIFA World Cup 2022 successfully. I also take this opportunity to congratulate the State and the people of Qatar on this event.
"International fans including Vietnamese enjoyed an unforgettable tournament with the high standards of organisation and service. More than 2,000 Vietnamese fans travelled to Qatar to watch different matches of this tournament. It was a Vietnamese company that made a construction of the steel structure of five stadiums in Doha including Lusail Stadium. This is a contribution by Vietnam to the outstanding success of FIFA World Cup 2022.”
Qatar has become a popular destination to host international sport events. “I am confident that with excellent experience of organising FIFA World Cup 2022, Qatar will be successful in hosting Asian Football Cup. Thousands of fans from my country are expected to visit Qatar to watch matches and support the national team,” the envoy added.
