Doha: The Souq Haraj project, which is located opposite Barwa Village in Al Wakrah, is now 45 percent complete.
A source from the contracting company told Al Sharq Newspaper that the new Souq Haraj will replace the existing one located in Najma, a congested area in the city.
The project is expected to open by the second half of 2018 and will cost QR215 million.
The new 35,000-square meter complex will have 325 outlets available for rent with 900 parking lots. The carpet area of a one-door shop will be 60 square meters.
The need for a new Souq Haraj was felt as the country’s population has been increasing and there was pressure on the current market in Najma. It is located in a congested area so trucks moving in and out cause traffic snarls especially on Thursdays and Fridays.
