DOHA: The Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum (QP) H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, has said Qatar is keen on joint ventures in the hydrocarbon sector with any potential global partners.
“Qatar is always looking for opportunities to cooperate, especially for investment throughout the world,” Dr Al Sada told reporters after the formal opening the Representative office of the Russian gas-export monopoly Gazprom, here yesterday.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Victor Zubkov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom and Special Representative of the President of Russia for cooperation with Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF); Pavel Fedorov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia; Leonid Bokhanovsky, Secretary General of the GECF; Dmitry Trofimov, Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Federation in Qatar; and Pavel Oderov, Head of the International Business Department of Gazprom.
Also present during the event were senior officials from QP and major companies in the Qatar’s energy sector as well as members of the media.
Victor said the opening of the Doha office is an important step to push the existing relations between Gazprom and Qatar Petroleum. It is a positive step for the development of new relations between Qatari companies such as Qatargas and RasGas, in addition to other companies in the region.
The Gazprom Representative Office is responsible for growing the company’s relationships with QP, Qatargas, RasGas, Qatari government agencies, and other strategic energy partners and government agencies within the Gulf region. Its activities are focused on collaborating with such strategic energy partners to identify and evaluate mutually beneficial business opportunities within the region.
The Office will help coordinate the efforts of Gazprom’s subsidiary companies to transact directly with these strategic energy partners, and it will also represent Gazprom in the GECF, which is headquartered in Doha.
The official opening of the Gazprom Representative Office in Qatar marks a crucial step towards building long-term relationships with the company’s strategic energy partners, focused on developing synergies, improving communication and boosting regional cooperation in the energy sector.the peninsula
