Dr. Abdullah Zayed Al Sahli, Head of the National Address Section at the Public Security of the Ministry of Interior, has said that the National Address will serve many government entities such as the Ministry of Municipality and Environment; the Ministry of Justice; the Supreme Judiciary Council and Planning and Statistics Authority.

Al Sahli also said that the National Address Law was introduced mainly for correspondence, especially for the courts and the Supreme Judicial Council, because many judicial issues were getting delayed, so the new national address law will solve this problem.

“Soon the law will be published in the Official Gazette and registration will be done via Metrash 2, the Ministry of Interior website and all service centers spreading across the country,” said Al Sahli adding that the registration through Metrash 2 will not take more than a minute.

“There will be a period of 6 months for registration, and after that, there will be fines not exceeding to QR10,000 for anyone who violates any of the provisions of articles (3) and (4) of this Act, or knowingly informs the competent authority of incorrect data about their national address,” he said while speaking to Qatar TV yesterday. About the data which is required to be presented in the national address, he pointed out that the second article of the law determines the data that are entered for the national address, and it includes one’s residence address in Qatar, landline and cell phone numbers, e-mail address, and work address for those who work in government or private sector and the external address is important and preferably if it is available.

For his part, Captain Ibrahim Al Mohannadi from the Legal Affairs Department of the Ministry of Interior said that the National Address will start soon stressing on the importance to provide the correct required information.

In the case of a person changes their address registered in the national address, he must directly notify the competent authorities immediately, he added. Regarding the data of people under the legal age, he said that the data of their parents will be taken. Any person, whether a citizen or a resident, fails to register their data within six months from the date of the commencement of the official registration process, they will be punishable under article 6 of the National Address Act.
