Ambassador of the Republic of India to Qatar, H E P Kumaran (pictured), praised the long-standing, deep-rooted and multi-faceted relations between Qatar and India, saying that those relations have been documented through trade and cultural ties between the two countries.
In exclusive statements to QNA, the Ambassador added that this relationship has evolved in recent years into a mutually beneficial partnership, given the series of high-level visits by both sides.
The Ambassador emphasised that Qatar is one of India’s major energy partners and bilateral trade between the two countries has grown rapidly in recent years, adding that there are several areas where India looks forward to expanding the economic cooperation, including investment opportunities, between the two countries, which hold a lot of promise.
He expressed his happiness that, during the ongoing Qatar-India 2019 Year of Culture, they have successfully organised nearly 40 events so far, with the active cooperation and support of the Qatari authorities, pointing out that there are some important cultural events/ programmes being planned in the coming weeks.
The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the leadership and the Government of Qatar for their hospitality and support to the Indian community in Qatar over the years. He said it is a matter of pride that the large and diverse Indian community in Qatar is appreciated for its discipline, hard-work and law-abiding nature.
He added that as a result, the size of the Indian community has grown over the years to reach nearly 750,000, giving them an opportunity to continue to contribute substantially to the growth and development of Qatar.
As the Indian community in Qatar joins the celebrations of Qatars National Day, the Ambassador expressed his confidence that the India-Qatar partnership is poised to scale new heights in the years ahead.
The Ambassador congratulated the Qatari people and their wise leadership on the achievements of the State of Qatar. He expressed his deep appreciation for the impressive steps taken by Qatar in a variety of vital areas, especially education, business, industry, infrastructure, tourism and social development, which is a testament to the far-sightedness of the Qatari leadership and their vision to maximise developmental benefits
He added that Qatar is blessed with abundant natural resources and takes the utmost care to put these resources to efficient use, keeping in mind aspects like sustainability and the welfare of future generations. He extended his warm greetings to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AlThani; Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa AlThani and the other members of the ruling family; representatives of the Government of Qatar and the friendly people of Qatar, on the occasion of Qatar’s National Day 2019, which is an important day in the history of the State, commemorating the country’s unification under the leadership of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani in 1878.
