New Qatar Volleyball Association League season kicks off tomorrow

Doha: The Qatar Volleyball Association League for Men will kick off from tomorrow at Al Arabi Sports Club Indoor Hall, the organising committee announced here yesterday.
Two matches will be held on the opening day where Al Ahli lock horns against Al Khor at 5:15pm, while defending champions Al Rayyan take on Al Shamal in the second match of the day.
The first leg of the double leg league will involve 66 matches and will conclude on January 26.
Most of the matches will take place at the Al Arabi Sports Club and at the Qatar Volleyball Association hall.
Recently formed team El Quiyada is all set to make their debut and will clash with Qatar Sports Club on December 15 in their first match.
The other teams are Police, Al Arabi, Al Wakra, Al Sadd, Eljaish and Al Rayyan, 
Al Gharafa.
The Qatar Volleyball Association League has attracted many foreign talents  in the past, and this season players from USA, France, Algeria, Germany and Cuba will be seen in action.
Brook Michael Bilings (Police), Oieter Ilree (Al Wakra), both of USA, Philippe Barca (Al Wakra) of France, Tawfiq Mahjoobi (Al Sadd) of Algeria, Christian Pambil (Eljaish) of Germany, yosleyder Cala (Al Rayyan) of Cuba are some of the foreign players who will be in action in  the championship.
Most of the clubs have also relied on foreign coaches to give them the additional edge over the rivals in the pursuit of the top honours.
Coaches from Egypt, France, Poland, Germany, Netherlands, Tunisia and Italy will be at the helm of affairs for the Qatari 
clubs.
Jean-Michel Andre (France) of Police, Gherghe Cretu (Poland) of Al Arabi, Ahmad Kamal Abdulwahab (Egypt) of Al Wakra, George Strumilo (Al Sadd) of Germany, Adel Sannoun (Germany) of Eljaish, Ljubomir Travica (Italy) of Al Rayyan, Zuhair Belhadj (Tunisia) of El Qiyada, Mariusz Sordyl (Netherlands) of Al Ahli, Ghazi Qazbaa (Tunisia) of Qatar Sports Club, Mohammad Bahri Al Trabulsi (Tunisia) of Al Gharafa, Muawia Al Habib Al Ajnaf (Tunisia) of Al Shamal and Mohammad Al Laqani (Egypt) of Al Khor are the coaches of the league teams.  
THE PENINSULA
