Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange is planning to launch a program for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that will help the small and mid-size companies to list their shares on the local bourse. This program will have a dedicated website for SMEs, said Rashid bin Ali Al Mansoori, CEO of the Qatar Stock Exchange.
“We are doing an elite Programme. The document, everything will be ready by the end of this month. We have already contacted some providers of websites,” said Mansoori addressing the Qatar Trade Summit being held at InterContinental Doha The City.
“This program will be beneficial for everybody. For stock exchange, it will create pipeline of SMEs for venture market which has now only two companies,” he added.
He said that the website will have all the details regarding the companies. “This program will be a platform for all the SMEs and start ups in Qatar to get listed on this website. These companies will be provided help and education,” he added.
“We listed two companies on the Qatar Stock Exchange which are SMEs with support of QDB, one is Al Faleh Educational Holding and the other is Mekdam Holding Group and both are successful”
QSE’s Venture Market provides a listing and trading venue for SMEs that do not fulfil listing requirement of the main market. It provides an alternative route to market for the SMEs who need the access to capital that being listed entails.
QSE Chief emphasised on the important role being played by the SMEs in countries around the world. “SMEs have a bigger role to play here. In Europe, Asia SMEs contribute more than 70 percent of GDP to local economies and account for the bulk of employment,” he added.
