Doha: The players and officials of the Qatar table tennis team yesterday left for Amman, Jordan, to participate in the Arab Championship which will be held from today.

The 13-day Championship is organised by the Arab Table Tennis Federation,  headed by Khalil Al Mohannadi who is also the President of Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) and First Vice-President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

Ali Sultan Al Muftah, Assistant Secretary of QTTA, is the head of the mission to Jordan. The team includes Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi, Ahmed Muthanna Al Awlaki, Mohamed Abdel Wahhab, as well as several other players.

The women’s delegation is managed by Noura Al Abri and includes Chinese coach Sully, and players Maha Ali Flamerzi, Maha Ali, Maryam Ali and Shawq Al Abdullah.

Thani Al Zaraa, director of the national teams at QTTA, confirmed that participation in this edition of the Arab Championship will be very challenging, especially after the long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic as all Arab teams and clubs strive to achieve success and targeting podium spots.

"However, our chances are also good and we also try our best to achieve outstanding results, especially since we have prepared well during the recent months. We have held training camps both in Qatar and abroad in preparation for this event,"Al Zaraa said.
