The Peninsula’s 'Tamim is Glory' image praised

The iconic “Tamim Al Majd” sketch got popular in Qatar and abroad but an overwhelming majority of expatriates living in country was unable to grasp full meaning of Arabic title until The Peninsula took the lead and introduced its English version “Tamim is Glory”.

Now, the English version of iconic image of the Emir titled “Tamim is Glory” launched by The Peninsula newspaper is getting popular among non-Arabic expatriate communities.

"We came here in early 1980's. Since then this country has given us so much. Now this is home for my children and grandchildren as well. We are grateful to this country and these stickers are just a small way of expressing solidarity and gratitude. When we say “Tamim is Glory” in English, it is a bit closer to our heart." Tuan Hassim, a long-time expatriate who had plastered the poster on his car. The number of expatriates using the image on their vehicles is growing with every passing day.

"It's always more expressive when we communicate in a language we know. It is good move that now the solidarity image is also available in English language as there are many people in the country who can't understand Arabic. This will help us express our solidarity in a more effective manner," Shafnaz Mustak, a Sri Lankan expatriate said.

People are also using “Tamim is Glory” image on their social media profiles. “Using English version of iconic image on social media spreads the message across the world. For example, now people in my home country Pakistan can also learn about the real feelings of people living in Qatar as they are grasping the meaning of the image,” said Salman Mehmood, a Pakistani expatriate.

He said that iconic “Tamim is Glory” image was not merely a portrait of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani rather it had become a historical reference for loyalty, love and unity.

“Some of my friends in Pakistan too have replaced their profile picture with The Peninsula’s “Tamim is Glory” image,” he added.

Another expatriate from India, Jinu, who also had “Tamim is Glory” image on her car said: “I appreciate The Peninsula’s initiative of bringing English version of iconic image."

Under another initiative, Dar Al Sharq has also installed "Tamim Al Majd" image in front of the office building at D-Ring Road.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Khalid Al-Shafi, Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula; Sadiq Mohammad Al Amari, Editor-in-Chief of Al Sharq; Faleh Al Hajri, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Al Sharq and Mohamed Haji, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Lusail newspaper among other staffers of Dar Al Sharq.

The billboard of the image of H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is being visited by a number of people who are expressing their love for the Emir and solidarity with Qatar.

Talking to The Peninsula, an Indian family at the venue appreciated the installation of "Tamim Al Majd" image in front of the building saying: "This vicinity needed the image so that the people living in surrounding areas can also express their emotions of love and solidarity with Qatar."
