Director of the Department of Education and Training Centers at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Khalid Ali Al Sadi, has said that private education and training centers resumed smooth operations strictly following the COVID-19 measures.

“The education centers  serve large segments of the society including students from schools and universities, working people and those want to avail their services,” said Al Sadi while speaking to Qatar TV.

“We have specialist education centers for remedial classes which follow the curricula of government and private schools as well. There are centers for computer courses, languages, people with disabilities,” he said.

“Following the decision for gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions on education sector, the activities of education and training resumed with the capacity of 30 percent,” said Al Sadi.

He said that the center for people with disabilities resumed their activities with five students in a hall following COVID-19 preventive measures at this stage.

“The Department dispatched special teams for monitoring the implementation of the measures in education and training centers,” said Al Sadi.

“Most of the employees of these centers received vaccination and the centers are in compliance with the measures. So far no cases of infection was detected at the centers,” said Al Sadi.

To a question about the remedial classes, he said that since classroom teaching was disrupted in government and public schools due to pandemic there is need for  remedial classes.

The remedial classes are held in education centers which were licensed and monitored by the Department to ensure the compliance of the measures.

Following the Law No. 18 and ministerial decision for regulating the operation of private education and training centers, the registration is required for opening such centers.

“There is special page on the website at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for applying to open new centre,” said the Director of Education and Training Centers Khalid Ali Al Sadi, adding that the director of the centre should hold the certificate of specialisation matching the activity of the education centre.

He also said that the building of education centre should also meet the necessary requirements and specifications.
