The 14th Career Fair at Qatar University witnessed a large turnout of students during the past two days.
The fair offers employment opportunities, academic sponsorship and training opportunities.
Around 70 entities from both private and government sectors participated in the event which was held at the College of Business and Economics Building-QU. The fair aimed to provide QU students and Alumni with the opportunity to meet and interact with employers and representatives of companies to seek employment and training opportunities.
Speaking to The Peninsula yesterday on the sidelines of the exhibition, Abdul Aziz Al Khaldi, Head of Labor Market Relations Section, said that the exhibition is in its 14th edition and there was a participation of 71 companies from four sectors: finance & business, energy & industry, education, health and sports.
“Some entities provide job opportunities, some provide academic sponsorship, and some provide field training,” he said.
Al Khaldi also pointed out that there are 671 jobs, 201 academic sponsorship opportunities and nearly 700 training opportunities available.
Regarding the number of students and graduates who visited the exhibition, he said that in the previous edition, around 7,000 visited the fair and this year they are expecting more.
The event features activities and training workshops which help students in preparing professional life. These workshops include the methods of writing CVs and tips for interviews.
The fair highlights QU’s commitment to provide the local labour market with highly qualified graduates. It also educates students to explore their options and choose to specialise in the field of their interest.
Today and tomorrow the fair was supposed to be open only for female students, but the university announced yesterday that “all university events are postponed until further notice.”
