Qafac, a subsidiary of Industries Qatar,  has plans to implement new projects and the expansion of existing projects. It is all gearing up to commission one of the world’s largest commercial scale carbon dioxide recovery projects, enabling it to enhance the production capacity of methanol.

With the initiation of this project, Qafac has demonstrated its strong desire to be a leader in reducing industrial greenhouse gases and to play a front line role as an environmentally conscious company. About 500 tpd of carbon dioxide will be separated and recovered from the flue gas using Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ proprietary process.

Al Kuwari said the project will put Qatar in the ranks of great interest environmental matters has Qafac cooperation with Qatar Petroleum to apply on behalf of Qatar to the United Nations to put this project in the list of  the UN’s top Green projects.
