Doha: The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has announced merging Al-Nadeeb accounts on social media with the GAC.
The step was taken to unify the GAC media platforms as the publications of Al-Nadeeb system for electronic customs clearance will be continuously included in the publications of the Authority to ensure reliability and cut out duplication in released content through the two accounts, the GAC said on its website.
The GAC noted that the Public Relations Department and the Operations Management and Risk Analysis Department carried out the merger. It added that a monthly plan was developed to disseminate information on the Authority’s media platforms.
Al-Nadeeb is an electronic system that simplifies all customs transactions between the General Authority of Customs and all partners from government agencies and private entities.
It was set up to ease cooperation between customs, the government, and the private sectors.
It also aims to encourage the private sector to adhere to the laws and regulations to support the national economy and the smooth movement of goods in and out of the country.
The system seeks to standardize customs procedures and speed up completing transactions with other entities related to the Customs Declaration. Hence, approvals are done electronically through the system, allowing importers to conduct and follow up customs clearance transactions from anywhere globally via the Internet.
In another development, the GAC has warned importers and exporters to comply with the harmonised system code in the declaration of imported goods, it said on its website.
The GAC noted such violations have often resulted in a seizure report’s issuance following the customs law.
The GAC stressed that clearance companies should follow the laws in Article (49), which “permits the owner of the goods or his representative to check their goods before submitting the Customs Declaration and may take samples thereof, when necessary, after obtaining permission from the Director and under supervision of the Customs Administration. Such samples shall be subject to the prescribed customs taxes duties’.”
The Article also states that “the unified guide for prior rulings for the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council was issued, which allows importers and exporters to inquire before the arrival of the goods about the harmonized code for the imported goods, and this guide has now been activated through manual application and procedures are being taken to activate it automatically.”
