Shop Qatar at DECC

Fashion Show: Raw Mango

In line with the 2019 Qatar-India Year of Culture, Shop Qatar's Design District will prominently feature Indian culture through Indian fashion designers.

Raw Mango is a brand of contemporary Indian handwoven textiles crafted using traditional techniques.

From saris to couture, Raw Mango will grace the Design District's catwalk and visitors can buy their collections at their pop-up stores too.

Priced at QR200, the tickets for the show can be purchased through the Shop Qatar mobile app, Qtickets.com or at the District's registration desk.

Make-up Master Class: Mashael Ajeel

Famous Kuwaiti makeup artist Mashael Ajeel is conducting a master class on January 11 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The ticket for the class is QR600 and can be purchased through the Shop Qatar mobile app, Qtickets.com or at the District's registration desk.

History in Colour Exhibition

Katara opened a colourful Historical Colour Exhibition by Kuwaiti artist Dr Iman Al Shammari at Building 22.

The gallery sheds light on the life in the Middle East especially the Gulf region during the early 20th century with special focus on some major events and public figures.

Using a new colouring technique on black-and-white photos, Shammari brought the old photos into life with their real colours.

Some of the photographs in Shammari’s exhibition date back to 1900 such as of the gates of Jerusalem while some are for the Royal family of Kuwait, while one photograph is of a Turkish lady that dates back to 1920.

Katara Kahraman beads exhibition

Rare and expensive beads made of authentic Kahraman amber from across the world will be on a display at the first edition of Katara Exhibition for Kahraman Beads at Katara Cultural Village premises.

The exhibition, a first of its kind in Qatar, will bring together traders and collectors of precious Kahraman beads, along with experts making the beads by hand from natural material.

The exhibition will feature about 80 stalls showcasing rare and authentic Kahraman beads, and bring together traders and manufacturers from countries including Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, China, Spain and Poland.

On the sidelines, there will be lectures, seminars and workshops focusing on various aspects of Kahraman beads. At the workshops, experts will introduce making of the beads by hand from natural material and explain how to distinguish between artificial and authentic Kahraman beads.

Katara Cultural Diversity Festival

This weekend the event will feature folkloric shows from Iran.

The festival features an array of cultural performances from different nations around the world and aims to act as bridge between cultures and provide a multicultural harmonious environment.

The festival is free for everyone.

Kaffeinated 3

About 70 exhibitors from various coffee shops will display a variety of flavours for the coffee lovers in the country at the Kaffeinated Festival. Visitors will also get a chance to learn about ways to make coffee including the traditional and modern methods.

Where: Katara Esplanade

When: 12pm to midnight; On till Jan 13

Mahaseel Festival

Mahaseel or the harvest festival ongoing at Katara is offering freshly picked locally grown vegetables and fruits at nominal price. There will also be farms selling flowers nursery, honey, dates, and diary and meat products. Apart from shopping for your kitchen and garden, there are also several entertainment activities and workshops at the festivals.
