Doha: The German International School Doha celebrated its 10th anniversary yesterday at a function held its premises in the presence of a number of ambassadors and senior officials from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
“The 10th anniversary of the German International School Doha (DISD) is one of the most prominent examples of the very successful partnership in the field of education between Germany and Qatar” said Ambassador of Germany, Hans-Udo Muzel addressing the function.
He said that German Embassy and DISD are very grateful for the extraordinary cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, whose continued generous support makes it possible to bring German quality education to Qatar.
“In this respect I am very proud that the German International School Doha has just been awarded the quality seal “Excellent German Overseas School” by the German government for providing an outstanding German school education from Kindergarten to Grade 12,” he added.
The celebration was attended by Willy Kempel, Ambassador of Austria and Edgar Dörig Ambassador of Switzerland in addition to Rawda Al Zaidan, Director of Private Schools Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
Ministry of Education and Higher Education lauded DISD for providing quality education in the country. “The German school is doing really very good job. They are very hardworking people. We are honoured to have such school in Qatar,” said Rawda Al Zaidan, Director of Private Schools Affairs at the Ministry told The Peninsula on the sidelines of the function.
The celebration began with the opening speech of the principal of the school, Dirk Dillschneider who acquainted the respected invitees with the recent achievements of the school throughout the past ten years.
“Ten years of German International School Doha means 10 years of success. In its 10th anniversary, the German International School Doha reached not only full expansion but also reached the capacity of 314 pupils of 28 different nationalities which are considered the highest number of students in the past 10 years,” said Dillschneider.
He said that in every year of its existence, all students have successfully graduated from the DIS Doha. In the last school year, the first graduation year of the International Diploma Program, all students attained their certificate.
“I am proud to lead a school that has a language concept that includes the languages German, English, Arabic and French,” said Dillschnieder adding that the German international school is a language-oriented educational institution, with German qualities, values, and traditions, which leads the students to a German higher education entrance qualification and beyond to an international university entrance qualification.
On behalf of the students, parents, staff, and educators, the principal Dillschneider expressed his gratitude to the German Embassy for their support and to the Qatari government for granting us the chance to implement the German values and traditions here in such a beautiful country.
