Doha: Qatar Leadership Academy, a member of Qatar Foundation, held a graduation ceremony for its 15th cohort on Tuesday at Multaqa (Education City Student Center). The academy graduated 28 students including 26 Qataris and two Omanis of 2022 class.

The ceremony was attended by President of Pre University Education at Qatar Foundation Abeer Al Khalifa, leaders from Qatar Armed Forces and diplomats.

Director of Qatar Leadership Academy Jameel Al Shammari and Students Services Manager Rashid A Al Naemi handed over diploma certificates to graduates of the 2022 class.

Al Shammari presented Academic Performance Award to the Leader, Mohamed Sultan Al Essae and the Leadership Award of 2022 to the Battalion Commander, the Leader,  Ibrahim Abdulrahman Al Hoori.

Addressing the ceremony, Al Shammari said that Qatar Leadership Academy was and still is a great educational edifice.

“Since the day of establishment, 16 years ago, it has carried the banner of challenge and contributed to the progress of society towards the horizons of science and knowledge; the wells of thought and education like all academies affiliated with the Qatar Foundation, which provided everything necessary to ensure the brilliant success in the various fields and other programmes that it offers,” said Al Shammari.

He said that the academy is moving steadily and confidently towards excellence and superiority with two complementary tracks: the leadership excellence track and the educational excellence track.

“We made a number of achievements at the local and regional levels. QLA obtained the membership in the Council of International Schools (CIS), the approval of the leadership programme implemented at QLA by the Ministry of Defence; QLA won the School Excellence Award in the golden category from the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States which was organised for the first time; won the Academic Excellence Award - Teacher Category Outstanding preparatory stage, and a team of QLA’s students qualified for the final stage of the Akhlaquna Award in the Botanical Clinic and Research Centre project, and won the Food Sustainability Award from the Qur’anic Botanical Garden,” said Al Shammari.

Speaking about the quality of educational outputs and their application of the latest educational programmes and modern education strategies, he said that all 28 students of the current cohort have been accepted into prestigious local and international (the UK
and the US) universities, at a rate of 100%.

Cadet Mohamed Sultan Al Essae in a Valedictorian Speech said: “It is time for Qatar Leadership Academy to harvest the fruits as they have ripened and gift the community with a new group of its leader graduates, as it has pledged to do since its establishment.”

He said that the academy is an institution with unstoppable innovation like a spring that is ever flowing and a good tree that is always fruitful.

“Tonight, Qatar Leadership Academy is gifting the country with another new group of graduates supported with education and knowledge, charged with energy and diligence, and ready to continue the building process of their country,” said Al Essae.

Speaking at the same event, Firas Abdul Majid, an alumnus of Qatar Leadership Academy, said: “I was in your shoes back in 2009, exactly 13 years ago. I remember that day to be extremely special, full of pride and honour.”

He said that focusing on leadership skills both theoretically and practically, everyone who graduates from here has a special skillset.
