Doha: Lulu Qatar Hypermarket's “Shop and Donate” campaign for the fourth consecutive year has allocated part of the sales of some products to support the Qatar Cancer Society’s (QCS) awareness efforts, resulting in a donation of QR125,000.
This periodic initiative comes from Lulu’s belief in the importance of social responsibility toward raising awareness of cancer and ways to prevent it, promoting a culture of early detection, as well as supporting those living with the disease.
Regional Manager of Lulu Hypermarket Shanavas Ibrahim handed over the donation cheque to Public Relations Officer of Qatar Cancer Society Ammar Al Mashhadani who thanked the officials of the Lulu Qatar hypermarket for their constant support of QCS, whether in the field of raising awareness of the disease or supporting those living with it.
He pointed out that the field of cancer control needs all state institutions to confront this disease, especially in light of its global exacerbation.
He wished for the continuation of this support and opening more expansive areas of cooperation between the two sides in the future, especially since Lulu is one of the most supportive and adopting the cause of fighting cancer.
Lulu has periodic initiatives with the charity, the most important of which is raising awareness of healthy food, as it presented, in a first-of-its-kind industry, healthy cooking shows targeting its patrons to spread awareness about the importance of healthy food in preventing diseases, especially cancer, he added.
Ibrahim said: “The launch of this campaign comes within the framework of Lulu’s commitment to supporting social responsibility programmes, especially the cause of cancer control, which comes as a top priority.”
