Qatar gear up to take part in FIVB Beach Volleyball Open Championship in South Africa

Doha: Qatar Volleyball Federation (QVF) has confirmed their participation in the FIVB Beach Volleyball Open Championship which will be held in Durban, South Africa from December 11 to 15, QVF said here yesterday.
Qatar will field two teams in the championship.
 Thiago Santos and Jefferson Pereira will be members of one of the team, while Tamer Abdelrasoul and Abdelaziz Khallouf make up for the second team
Ali Al Sheebani will be heading the delegation Thawip Thongkamnird is the coach of the team.
Last month QVF hosted the Arab Beach Volleyball championship which Qatar won.
Santos and Pereira defeated Oman A 2-1 at Al Gharafa Volleyball Arena in Doha yesterday. 
In the final match of the  three-day tournament which attracted the region’s top teams, Qatar B snatched the first set by a close margin of two points 21-19, before  Oman A levelled the match at 21-18.
The hosts later secured the third set 16-14. 
Hosts Qatar were guaranteed a finalist after Qatar A and Qatar B were drawn in the semi-finals.
Qatar B topped the scoreboard in the match with a straight-set scoreline of 2-0 (21-16, 21-13).
Oman A reached the final courtesy of a 2-0 win over Lebanon (21-14, 21-15).
After losing the semi-final, Qatar A bounced back to secure third place by beating Lebanon B in a close contest.
Qatar A won 2-1 (19-21, 21-12, 15-13).
Teams from Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain, Palestine, Libya and Yemen as well as the hosts took part in the competition.
Except Yemen, all countries were represented by two teams each.The Peninsula
