Doha: Qatar Football Association, in cooperation with Qatar Shell, organised a variety of activities for Afghan evacuees within the “Koora Time” initiative, which aims at creating a new participatory environment with a tangible psychological impact on the participants and their families.

Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater visited the initiative, followed up the various sports and educational events for Afghan evacuees, and listened to a detailed explanation about the initiatives objectives and its significant role since its launch, as it aims to improve the health and safety of young people and children in Qatar through football, and supporting the social development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, which is in line with the ultimate goal of organizing this event.

Director of Marketing and Communications Department of Qatar Football Association Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari said that the partnership between QFA and Qatar Shell — the leading sponsor of the Qatar Football Association — in organising events for the Afghan evacuees through the Koora Time initiative is a positive thing, noting the endeavour to expand the scope of the programme.

Al Kuwari added that Koora Time initiative targets an average of 100 participants residing in one residential complex. Due to the different age groups of the participants, they are divided into three sub-groups: 4-6 years; 7-10 years and 11-14 years.

He noted that the necessary support will be provided to facilitate entry and permits for trainers, in addition to providing the necessary equipment to conduct the training sessions over a period of six weeks. The six-week programme will focus on Healthy Eating - Healthy FC Barcelona Styles and Habits; FC Barcelona Aspiration and Loyalty; FC Barcelona Skills and Training and Aspire Academy.

In a testament to its resounding success in recent years, the Koora Time initiative won 12 prestigious international honours and awards.
