Midterm exams of first semester in govt schools from Oct 18

Doha: Students’ Evaluation Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has circulated the schedules for midterm examinations of the first semester of academic year 2020-21 for the students from grade 1 to 11 of government schools in which the students will appear in-person in examination halls. 

“The students from grade 1 to 11 are required to appear in-person in examination halls to take the exams of mid-term of the first semester which will begin from October 18, 2020,” said Head of Digital Media Section of Public Relation and Communications Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Bilqis Al Yazidi while talking to a Qatar Radio Programme.

She said that the exams for the subjects of visual arts, physical fitness and life skills will be postponed to the end of first semester.

“Schools will strictly implement the COVID-19 protocols, preventive and precautionary measures to protect students, examiners and school staffs during the exams,” said Al Yazidi. 

She said that following the preventive and precautionary measures to maintain the social distancing, 15 students will be allowed in a classroom and 60 students in a gymnasium as maximum. 

“Separate examination halls will be made for students with chronic diseases and those with special needs and isolation rooms will be also available for suspected cases of coronavirus,” said Al Yazidi. 

She urged the students to get ready for the examinations. Parents were also asked to support their children especially ahead of the examinations.

Al Yazidi said that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is providing all possible support to improve the performance of the students which will play a great role in making exams easier for the students.   

“Teachers are communicating with students through Microsoft-Teams app to explain the lessons properly. Distance learning platforms of the Ministry offered video lessons for students of all grades enabling them to learn by repeated lessons’ taking,” said Al Yazidi.

She said that the schedules of mid term exams of first semester for the academic year 2020-21 for the students from grade 1 to 11 were sent by the Students’ Evaluation Department to the directors of government schools.
