Students of MES School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti paying a glowing tribute to the Father of the Nation.
Doha: MES Indian School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the great Indian leader and inspiring freedom fighter with traditional fervour and enthusiasm recently.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, President Officiating, MES Governing Board K Abdul Karim recollected various freedom movements of Gandhi and urged the students to imbibe the noble qualities as advocated and lived as example by Mahatma Gandhi.
The Guest of Honour, General Secretary, MES Governing Board, P K Mohamed emphasised the need for youngsters to practise Gandhian principles of truth, honesty and simplicity, and to propagate his ideals of love, peace and brotherhood.
Emphasising the importance and relevance of Gandhian principles, Principal of MES Indian School, Hameeda Kadar urged the students to uphold the values of non-violence, practice tolerance and don the mantle of modesty to serve humanity.
Various literary competitions such as poster designing, fancy dress, collage making, calligraphy, elocution and essay writing, were conducted in different categories of the students.
Names of the Section-wise winners of the competitions were announced.
A recorded thematic programme paying a glowing tribute to the Father of Indian nation and highlighting the significance of adhering to non-violence, simplicity and brotherhood in the present-day context entitled ‘My Life is My Message’ was presented by the students.
Head Prefect, Boys’ Section, Fahad Mohammed welcomed the online audience and Head Girl, Junior Section Aleena, Mariyam Sheikh proposed a vote of thanks.
Tanishka Dandriyal and Leah Thomas of the Girls’ Section compered the programme. Anwar, Cultural Coordinator, coordinated event. Haroon V.P along with the members of ICT Department of MES provided technical support.
