Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara opened yesterday an exhibition titled 'From the Earth' in Building 19, Hall 1 which feature over 70 pieces of art by seven potters.
Katara General Manager Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti; Ambassador of Sudan to Qatar H E Ahmed Abdel Rahman Mohamed Hassan Siwar Al Dahab, and a large number of artists, and the public attended the opening day of the exhibition yesterday.
The exhibition included 71 pieces of art by seven potters: Ahmad Al Haddad, Talal Al Qasimi, Hamid Al Qahtani, Ruqayyah Al Mohannadi, Roaa Onsa, Lina Lutfi and Asia Al Qahtani.
Katara General Manager, Dr. Al Sulaiti said: “Katara continues to support artists and provide them with opportunities through these art exhibitions that display their works and exchange expertise and artistic experiences. Katara will remain an umbrella for creators in various fields, and this in turn enriches the cultural scene in Qatar.”
About his participation in the exhibition, artist Ahmed Al Haddad said: “I am participating with 12 pieces of what is known as ceramic dishes, and I used in the implementation of these works various ceramic techniques and patterns.” Artist Roa Onsa said: “I am participating with 11 ceramic pieces that include what is heritage from Sudan and modern pieces.”
Ruqayya Al Mohannadi chose to present works inspired by the Qatari heritage. “I’m presenting seven works in the exhibition which are made of white ceramics in the form of a Qatari girl adorned with gold”
The exhibition runs until September 20.
