Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has urged pregnant women to seek help from the Women Wellness and Research Centre (WWRC) by calling the hotline for any concern over the baby’s movements.
HMC in a social media campaign said that, if a woman is booked to deliver at the WWRC, she can call the hotline numbers 40261091 or 40261074 if she has concerns about baby`s movements. If the pregnant woman is booked to deliver at any of the other HMC maternity facilities, she can contact them directly for immediate assistance.
“Baby movements in pregnancy are good signs that your baby is healthy. Even with distractions of these difficult times, it is still very important that you monitor the movements of your baby. You should get to know the patterns of movements and kicks that your baby will make,” said HMC.
If a pregnant woman notices or is worried about any change in the baby’s movements pattern, that can include if the movements reduced, if the pattern is unusual. But if the baby isn’t moving at all pregnant woman are urged to go to the Emergency Department immediately.
WWRC’s specialised team of doctors and nurses provide care for thousands of women a year, 24-hour a day, seven days a week. The team also there to help with gynaecological emergencies such as severe vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, vulva abscesses and fibroids.
The Emergency Department at WWRC is equipped with advanced imaging and diagnostic tools for immediate and accurate diagnosis of the condition. It also have a 24-hour in-house pharmacy should the patient need it.
According to the WWRC, if the woman is suffering from an obstetrical medical emergency or need immediate care, they should go to the emergency department without a delay. Such conditions include, abnormal vaginal bleeding during pregnancy, sudden onset of abdominal pain during pregnancy, leaking water from the vagina, reduced/absent fetal movements at any stage of pregnancy, severe vomiting with dehydration during pregnancy and symptoms of miscarriage and trauma in pregnancy.
