More than 10,000 services are provided by the Qatar Foundation for Social Work and the centres affiliated with it from March 15 to 31. About 5,080 people have benefited from these services.
“To continue providing services for families and society in general in this exceptional time, we have taken the necessary measures such as providing services online,” said the CEO of Qatar Foundation For Social Work, Amal bint Abdullatif Al Mannai (pictured).
She also said that Qatar Foundation for Social Work follows the news on the spread of the coronavirus around the world and studies the capabilities of the Foundation’s digital platforms and other scenarios in case of any emergency events.
This information came yesterday during a virtual press conference through the meeting application “Zoom” to brief local media about the precautionary measures it took to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
The virtual press conference was attended by Amal bint Abdullatif Al Mannai, as well as members of the committee, in addition to a number of representatives of various media.
The conference reviewed the latest news developments and highlighted the importance of continuous development of the capabilities of electronic platforms in the foundation and its centres and working to develop alternative plans to tackle any urgent future events.
On the Foundation’s efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19, Amal said that the Foundation has published several awareness films that suit every age group, as well as allocating a hotline (16030) to communicate and receive inquiries, and also puts health and safety instructions on all of the Foundation’s electronic platforms.
She said: “Additionally, we also developed the efficiency of the digital platforms in the Foundation and centres, and the working from home began from March 15, and these efforts are to limit the spread of coronavirus.”
Also, it discussed the measures taken by the Foundation and the centres to ensure continued provision of services to the targeted groups, in addition to the internal and external awareness campaigns in each centre in addition to establishing a hotline and social media accounts for the central committee for crisis management in the foundation and its centres.
For his part, the Director of the Unicef office in Qatar, Professor Anthony extended his thanks to the Qatar Foundation for Social Work on the great effort in facing this crisis and working effectively with the most vulnerable groups.
