There are a lot of interesting things happening this weekend in Qatar, we’ve picked up the ones that have caught our eye and made a list for you to enjoy your weekend.

International kite festival at aspire

The Kite Festival will conclude on March 9, people who are interested can join and watch the kite flyers display the various designs and colorful kites.

The morning sessions will run from 9am until 12pm. It will comprise various workshops for students who are taking part in a local kite flying competition and will be organized on the sidelines of the main international event on a smaller scale for local schools’ teams.

The afternoon sessions will run from 3pm until 11pm, and comprise various entertainment activities and more than 28 food and beverage outlets set up alongside the main International Kite Flying competition.

Katara Beach Volleyball Cup

Katara Beach Volleyball Cup is organized by Katara in cooperation with Qatar Volleyball Association.

The championship is the second of the 10 competition called FIVB 4stars organized during the season 2018 by the International Volleyball Federation worldwide.

Qatar will be represented by 3 teams in the Main Draw. The Competition in Doha will see the participation of 56 teams coming from 28 different Countries.

14 of the top 16 seeded teams will be participating in the upcoming Katara Beach Volleyball Cup 2018.

Entry is free.

Qumra 2018 Film Screenings

The Doha Film Institute (DFI) will screen 17 captivating films starting today as part of Qumra 2018, the annual industry event which runs until March 14 at Souq Waqif and the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).

The screenings, open to the public and Qumra Pass holders, are in two segments – Master Screenings, featuring compelling works of the Qumra Masters; and New Voices in Cinema, to showcase feature-length and short films that are supported by DFI through its Grants programme. Following the screenings, the audience can interact with the filmmakers and talents through an open Q&A session.

The screenings will kick off at 4.30pm today at MIA Auditorium with the film Taste of Cement by Ziad Kalthoum. It will be followed by the film Okja, an action adventure film directed by Bong Joon-ho.

Paws On Ice

Paws Rescue Qatar is hosting a charity event at Villaggio Mall in the most unusual and fun way for kids and families in Gondolania Ice Rink.

The event is open to participants from 6-18 years. Beginners as well as experienced skaters can participate.

The participants have to get themselves sponsored from as many friends, family members and neighbors as possible, and then on the day, skate as many laps as they can!

Profits from this will go to Paws Rescue Qatar. The event promises to be a fun opportunity to experience ice skating in Doha and raise money for a great cause.

Superhero weekend - Cosplay Competition, Parade and activities

To celebrate the launch of the iconic British Music and Entertainment Brand and the launch of their first store in Qatar, HMV will be hosting a Superhero Weekend.

After the success of Q-Cosplay and their latest cosplay competition during Video Games Live, they are bringing this new competition for everyone.

There will be changing rooms for both ladies and gents. Cosplayers can also register by giving the information needed to any HMV store person when they visit the store. Last day of Registration is March 8.
