Doha: Weather charts indicate that the country is expected to be affected by a ridge of high pressure accompanied with fresh to strong northwesterly wind during the period from Thursday, January 10 until Saturday, January 12.
Qatar Meteorology said that this would cause high waves, rising dust especially in open areas as well as a significant drop in temperatures by about 4 to 6 degrees compared with previous days.
Maximum temperature in Doha is expected to drop to 22°C and the minimum to 15°C, whereas a minimum temperature of less than 10 degrees is expected in southern areas.
However, the apparent temperature is less due to the wind chill effect with cold conditions in general especially during night and early morning. Wave height expected to range between 4 to 8 ft reaching 13ft at times.
Therefore, Qatar Meteorology Department urges all to be cautious, avoid going to sea and to follow the latest updates via its official social media accounts.
