QE market capitalisation falls to QR456.8bn

Doha: Qatar Exchange’s main index dropped 40.24 points (0.48 percent) last week when the bourse closed yesterday afternoon at 8,360.30 points. The trading value last week was QR605.5m, a decrease by 13.61 percent compared to QR700.9m the previous week.

The trading volume decreased by 7.30 percent to reach 12,063,863 shares, as against 13,014,333 shares the previous week, while the number of transactions rose by 3.24 percent to reach 9,968 last week as compared to 9,655 transactions the previous week.

The market capitalisation fell by 0.53 percent to reach QR456.8bn last week compared to QR459.2bn at the end of previous week. Of the 42 listed companies, nine ended higher last week while 29 fell and four remained unchanged.

Industries Qatar led traded value last week, accounting for 26.74 percent of the total, followed by Qatar For Meat and Livestock Trading (12.69 percent) and QNB (9.25 percent).

The industrial sector led traded value last week accounting for 35.81 percent of the total, followed by the banking and financial services sector (32.47 percent), the consumer goods and services sector (17.38 percent) and the telecoms sector (6.01 percent).

The banking and financial services sector led trading volume last week, accounting for 34.45 percent of the total, followed by the industrial sector (22.30 percent), the consumer goods and services sector (19.37 percent) and the real estate sector (8.45 percent).

The banking and financial services sector led the number of transactions traded last week with 30.08 percent of the total number, followed by the industrial sector (27.98 percent), the consumer goods and services sector (19.84 percent) and the telecoms sector (8.15 percent).

For the day, Qatar Exchange ended in the green adding 23.93 points (or 0.29 percent) to advance to 8,360.30 points from 8,336.37 on Wednesday.

The volume of the shares traded fell to 1,746,943 from 2,360,906 on Wednesday and the value of shares decreased to QR108,510,133.77 from QR125,717,865.13 on Wednesday.

Among the top gainers were Industries Qatar which was up 0.40 percent to QR152.10, Commercial Bank of Qatar rose 0.69 percent to QR73, International Islamic gained 0.58 percent to QR52.30 and Qatar Telecom was up by 0.98 percent to QR103.30.

The banking and financial sector index was up 5.45 points, the consumer goods and services sector index gained 17.45 points, the industrial sector index rose 6.82 points while the insurance sector added 1.84 points.
