Doha: An official at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education clarified that only some classrooms in few schools have been temporarily closed due to Covid-19 infections and they are continuing their learning online.
Adviser to the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Mohamad Al Bashri, said on Qatar Radio, that the attendance in most schools is more than 85%.

He said that more than 340,000 students and over 30,000 teaching staff are attending public and private schools and the cases of coronavirus infections are very few and almost negligible and there is no need for fear or anxiety.

He stressed that the infected people are dealt with professionally through an approved protocol and in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and school administration as well.

"There is a permanent and continuous coordination between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Public Health," Al Bashri added

He also added that there is continuous contact and follow-up by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education with parents and students and also with Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).

Al Bashri urged parents and students to follow official channels of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the MoPH to obtain information, and not to heed to rumors that spread on social media.

According to media reports few schools had reportedly closed some sections due to the staff testing positive in the last few days.

One Indian school had send a notice to the parents today saying four of their bus attendants, who were earlier tested negative,  have tested positive now and advised the kids who used the transportation to get themselves tested and submit a Covid-19 negative test before joining the school.
